She has been charged with fraud over $5,000.
Police arrested a 36-year-old Fort Erie woman on Monday.
The NRP started it's investigation back in October.
Officers were looking into suspected fraudulent activities involving Ontario Works payments, and failing to disclose additional income and assets.
The payments of about $8,800 were made between April 2016 and June 2017.
The NRP will not be releasing the woman's identity. She receives government assistance, and releasing her name would violate her privacy.
