A $13,000 fundraising goal has been set
A gofundme has been launched to raise money to replace a damaged bust of abolitionist Harriet Tubman.
A 24 year old man has been charged after the bust of Tubman was damaged beyond repair after it was knocked from its pedestal in the meditation garden of the BME Church on Geneva Street in St. Catharines last Sunday.
The fundraiser, launched by Natasha Bell, the owner and operator of BlackOwned905, has set a fundraising goal of $13,000, the amount it will cost to replace the bust.
On the gofundme page, Bell writes " The Salem Chapel is my family church. I am saddened and sickened that the bust of Harriet Tubman that has graced the church courtyard for 10 years was destroyed. And I know many of you are too."
