The GM Propulsion Plant in St. Catharines is reducing its greenhouse gas emissions by about 70 percent and it's going to save money on carbon and electricity.
The automaker has completed 6.4 megawatt cogeneration project at the Glendale Ave facility.
It was an investment of $28-million.
It's going to use renewable gas from the nearby landfill to generate electricity from newly installed engines.
GM celebrated the completion of the project earlier today alongside Mayor Walter Sendzik, Regional Chair Jim Bradley and MP Chris Bittle.
