Ontario investing $4.2 million to support new natural gas connections in Lincoln and Grimsby.
More farms and businesses in Lincoln and Grimsby will soon be able to connect to natural gas, thanks to an investment from the province.
Through the Natural Gas Expansion Program, Ontario will allocate about $4.2 million to support new natural gas connections in Grimsby and Lincoln.
The announcement was made today by Niagara West MPP Sam Oosterhoff, Energy Minister Todd Smith, and Lisa Thompson, Minister of Agriculture, Food and Rural Affairs.
Oosterhoff says the investment will help make life more affordable in West Niagara.
"Access to natural gas will help more families and businesses find energy savings while promoting economic development and job creation across West Niagara."
Under Phase Two of the program, over $234 million will be invested to create more than 8,700 natural gas connections in 43 rural, Northern and Indigenous communities.
By switching to natural gas, the average household can save as much as $1,500 a year in energy costs.
The project is expected to create about 660 new jobs in Lincoln and Grimsby, and construction for Phase Two projects is expected to begin as soon as this year.
