Residents concerned as wild animals attracted to residential areas, hurting pets
The Town of Grimsby is addressing concerns of domestic farm animals allowed to live in residential areas.
Councillor Delight Davoli says they have a by-law for certain animals in certain parts of town, but it doesn't cover all residential areas.
She adds people have expressed concern. "They have foxes, coyotes and so on, coming into those areas. Their pets are out, and are being attacked, and in one particular case had to be put down."
Mayor Jeff Jordan pointed to amending the by-law.
"We have an area in escarpment lands that we can't enforce the way we have it now. So, we have to re-write a by-law that is enforceable on escarpment lands."
Town council approved a motion asking staff to come up with options.
