CANADA - Eligible Canadians will receive the grocery rebate today.
According to the Canada Revenue Agency, approximately 11 million Canadians will receive the grocery rebate in addition to the GST credit.
Single Canadians without kids can expect an additional $234 in their bank accounts. Couples with children will receive an extra $467 and seniors will get an extra $225 on average.
The grocery rebate was part of the federal budget that was unveiled in the spring and the Liberals say the special payment will help with the rising cost of groceries due to food inflation. The Trudeau government provided a similar payment last fall.
Grocery Rebate payments are going out today. Eligible couples with two kids will get up to an extra $467, single Canadians will get up to an extra $234, and seniors will get an extra $225 on average.
