Hamilton Police Arrest Smithville Man and Church Board Chairman for Sexual Assault

Police say a victim reported sexual assault incidents from 2012 to 2016.

Hamilton Police have arrested a Smithville man in connection to a sexual assault investigation. 

The investigation kicked off earlier this month, when a victim reported several incidents between 2012 and 2016. 

Yesterday, police arrested Duane Thorne and charged him with sexual assault and sexual interference. 

Police say Thorne currently serves as the Chairman of the Board at Victory International Church. 

During the timeframe of the incidents, Thorne was a leader at the church. 

Police believe there could be more victims, and anyone with information is asked to call Detective Constable Shannon McLean at 905-546-4614.
