Officer suspended with pay, charged with assault, after call in Niagara-on-the-Lake
An assault charged has been laid against a Niagara Regional police officer.
The NRP says on August 5th, it became aware of allegations that an officer was involved in an altercation with a suspect, after police were called to a Niagara-on-the-Lake home.
As a result, Hamilton police were asked to investigate to avoid potential conflict of interest.
Yesterday, Constable Ben Tomiuck, a 23-year member of the NRP, was arrested and charged with assault.
He was released with a January 2nd court date, and is suspended with pay.
