$46 million stolen from one person
The teen is facing charges following r a joint investigation involving Hamilton police, the FBI and the U.S. Secret Service Electronic Crimes Task Force.
The teen, whose age has not been released is accused of stealing $46 million from one person in a massive cryptocurrency scam in the U.S.
Hamilton police say they became aware of the teen after some stolen cryptocurrency was used to buy an online user name, something not common in the gaming community which led investigators to the owner of that rare name.
To date, the teen is charged with theft over $5,000.00 and possession of property or proceeds of property obtained by crime.
Police add they made multiple cryptocurrency seizures valued in excess of $7 million CAD.
