Ontario's top doctor encouraging mask use in indoor settings
The province's science advisory table says we have likely entered a new wave of the pandemic as another more infectious subvariant of COVID-19 spreads.
The table made the declaration in a series of messages posted to twitter yesterday citing exponential growth in case counts in 80 per cent of the province's publc health units and rising hospitalization numbers.
The scientists also said that the wastewater signal in most regions is now rising, pointing to higher levels of viral activity overall.
Ontario's Chief Medical Officer of Health, Dr. Kieran Moore says there are currently no plans to revive mask mandates but he did urge Ontarians at risk to a severe outcome of COVID-19 to consider masking up in public indoor settings.
