St. Catharines Councillor Karrie Porter tweeting out her home was vandalized overnight.
The home of St. Catharines City Councillor Karrie Porter was targeted by vandals overnight.
Porter tweeted about the incident this morning, calling it "a pathetic display of cowardice and weakness."
The side of her home was spray painted with phrases such as "scary Karrie is a Karen" and "united non-compliance."
Earlier this year, the home of St. Catharines Mayor Walter Sendzik was also vandalized.
Sendzik released a statement in support of Porter and Dr. Mustafa Hirji, who had protesters outside his home last night.
"The recent vandalism committed at the home of Coun. Karrie Porter represents not only a hateful and unacceptable act, but one that is illegal. This, along with a small group targeting the private home of Dr. Mustafa Hirji for a protest on Tuesday, are just the latest examples of despicable behaviour that has happened to public officials over the last six months. I believe in peaceful demonstrations and the right to protest, but public officials and their families deserve to feel safe, especially in their homes. Intimidation, threats and harassment is completely unacceptable, and should not be tolerated."
