The Niagara IceDogs have decided to trade Akil Thomas to the Peterborough Petes.
The IceDogs will be getting Cameron Butler, two second round selections, a third round selection and a fourth round selection in exchange.
Thomas is supposed to be honoured ahead of tonight's IceDogs game against the Hamilton Bulldogs.
He scored the gold medal goal for Team Canada at the World Juniors on Sunday.
It was his first goal of the tournament, and he did it with less than four minutes left in the third period. Canada beat Russia 4-3 in the end.
Thomas is a prospect for the LA Kings.
