Council voted unanimously to continue partnership, in part helping new businesses get started
An agreement between Niagara Falls city council and the city's Innovation Hub to keep businesses thriving.
Council heard because of the Hub's work, roughly 1,000 people are working.
CEO Dan Bordenave added they help entrepreneurs of all ages get the help they need to start. "How do we decrease the operational costs? The majority of businesses fail because they can't afford the rent, they can't afford their operational costs.... so if we can mitigate that, then we can give them their best chance at success."
He added they've also helped international companies set up in Niagara Falls.
Councillor Mike Strange spoke to the potential for anyone.
"I'm sure everyone in this room has had a million dollar idea, on their napkin, and thought 'I've got an idea, I know I can make this, but think, how do I make this work?'"
The hub was looking for a $700,000 funding agreement with the city.
