Jack Eichel Out as Sabres Captain

Eichel stripped of captain title after failing his physical.

Buffalo Sabres centre Jack Eichel is no longer the team's captain.

General Manager Kevyn Adams made the announcement this morning, telling reporters that Eichel failed his physical.

Eichel and team doctors have been at odds after the player suffered a neck injury at the end of the regular season.

Adams says team doctors have recommended a neck fusion surgery, but Eichel hasn't agreed to the procedure.

As a result, he has failed his physical exam, and won't be participating in training camp.

Eichel has been placed on the team's injured reserve.
