Government officials have given the go-ahead for the Toronto Maple Leafs and the Ottawa Senators to host home games.
Ontario's Minister of Heritage, Sport, Tourism and Culture Industries Lisa MacLeod says the decision was made after a review of COVID-19 safety protocols.
"This approval was granted after close scrutiny of the rigorous health and safety protocols that will be adopted to keep players, staff and our communities safe from the spread of COVID-19 while permitting Ontario's NHL teams to play the game we love to watch."
The decision means that the teams can host games against other Canadian teams.
The NHL season will start on January 13th.
