Matt Mannella of Niagara Falls says he is excited to be part of the all-Canadian officiating lineup.
"It's pretty special...it's the first time in the tournament's history where all of the officials are Canadian...and it's special and awesome to represent my country."
Mannella has been a hockey official since he was a teenager, and last year he worked in the World Under 17 Championship.
He says being an official was about staying involved with the game.
"Growing up as a kid, you always dream of playing in the NHL, and once I realized that dream wasn't going to happen, I definitely wanted to stay in the sport, and officiating was the next best thing."
Team Canada is taking on Russia in the semi-finals today, and if they win the game, they will be playing for the gold medal tomorrow.
