Niagara Centre's Jeff Burch asking to improve tracking of sex offenders, and speed up the length of court cases
A wishlist from Niagara Centre's MPP to strengthen community safety and fix Ontario's overwhelmed court system.
Speaking in the legislature recently, Jeff Burch asked the sex offender registry be enhanced to improve tracking of known offenders.
He also wants more crown attorneys hired to speed up the court process. "Additionally we should hire more court staff, and increase compensation, to attract and retain qualified personnel, so that courtrooms can operate at full capacity. And the province must complete long overdue courtroom repairs, consider reopening shuttered courtroom houses."
He wants court delays stopped so dangerous sex offenders are not released because of backlogs.
