A man and an NRP officer had to be taken to hospital with minor injuries after police responded to a report of an impaired driver in Welland.
They were called to the Niagara Street and 6th Street area late Sunday afternoon, where they found a man in the driver’s seat of a vehicle.
He allegedly put up a fight while officers were trying to arrest him, and a Conducted Energy Weapon was deployed.
A 39-year-old man has been charged with assault with intent to resist arrest, assaulting a peace officer, disarming a peace officer and disobeying a court order.
