Police say it happened before 7 this morning when a vehicle crossed the highway, it was closed for several hours
Tragedy on Highway 406 early this morning.
Provincial police say for unknown reasons, at around 6:45, a southbound vehicle crossed over into the northbound lanes, causing a multi-vehicle collision near the exit to Highway 58 in Thorold.
Sadly, they say the 32-year old St. Catharines man driving the vehicle that crossed over died.
People that were in the six other vehicles involved suffered minor injuries.
Police add both directions of the 406 have been closed for some time.
