Emergency crews called to the David Street area, waiting for autopsy results
A man is dead following a house fire in Welland.
Emergency crews were called late this morning to the David Street and Sauer Avenue area, to find the house completely engulfed in flames.
They learned someone may be inside, but also had to deal with the integrity of the house being compromised due to the fire.
Police closed off area streets and evacuated nearby homes.
Welland Fire department eventually confirming the body of a man was found, but his ID could not be confirmed, and an autopsy will be done.
Police add a dog also died.
Police do not believe this fire was criminal, nor do they have a damage estimate yet.
