The provincial government spending $155-million for 57 more health care centres to have the scanners
The provincial government is cutting down on wait times for MRI and CT scan services in Niagara.
Niagara West MPP Sam Oosterhoff made the announcement yesterday at the GNMI centre on Welland Avenue in St. Catharines, adding two new licences for MRI machines to further expand access.
He says he's met many people who've waited months for an MRI. "I think we've all heard of people who are stressed when they don't know what they actually have, when they see symptoms, or worried they might have something, but they don't get an answer for a while... this is going to cut those wait times drastically, and get us to an average of 28 days."
The province wide investment of $155-million increases Niagara's MRI machines from 3 to 6, and CT scanners from 5 to 7.
