It shows people wanting centres to stay open
Roughly 3,000 Niagara residents have let the Ontario government know they're not happy with Port Colborne and Fort Erie urgent care centre closures.
Niagara Centre MPP Jeff Burch gave a rather large petition with their names to the government recently, which also included asking the restoration of diagnostic services such as laboratory imaging and medical testing.
He says people still want basic answers for when essential services will be restored.
Niagara Health has stated those centres will close in 2028, in favour of a 3-hospital system between Niagara Falls, St. Catharines and Welland.
Port Colborne Health Coalition Co-Chair Barbara Butters adds the community isn't sitting back and complaining, but is coming up with solid solutions.
