Niagara Centre's MPP revealing to the Ontario legislature how much people are paying for parking during hospital visits.
Jeff Burch has been pushing for elimination of parking fees, saying this is a tax on the sick and their families.
Today he told of a woman's mother who died this year after battling cancer for 7-years, and during that time the woman saved over $7,000 in parking receipts.
He also told of a Port Colborne family that's also paying while facing cancer.
He added the Nova Scotia Conservative government did away with the fees.
Health Minister Sylvia Jones said hospitals are directed to give discounts if individuals pay over $10 a day.
The health minister added the parking rates are there to ensure hospitals continue to offer world-class care.
