Niagara Catholic is planning to combine two of it's elementary schools in Thorold.
The province has approved an addition to Monsignor Clancy which will allow it to merge with St. Charles Catholic.
Monsignor Clancy currently teaches Grades 4 through 8 and St. Charles Catholic houses students in Kindergarten to Grade 3.
The new school will be known as Our Lady of the Holy Rosary Catholic Elementary and it's set to open in early 2022.
Construction begins next month and it's expected to last about 12 to 16 months.
