Province and municipality spent $86-million for long-term care home
Seniors in Fort Erie with long-term care home needs now have a new place to call home.
The newly developed Gilmore Lodge Long-Term Care home and Community Hub is open, thanks to $86-million from the provincial and municipal governments.
Provincial and municpal politicians were at the new site, at 60 King Street last week, for a ribbon cutting ceremony.
The former Fort Erie and Niagara on the Lake sites were identified by the province as needing redevelopment, so they were combined into one, with construction starting in 2021, it finished last year.
It is 3-storeys, with 160 beds, with "neighbourhoods" that provide smaller, home-like environments, along with a Gilmore Community Hub.
