This is the 3rd consecutive year for St. Catharines and Welland
More financial reward for the Cities of Welland and St. Catharines for getting homes built.
The Ontario government just handed a combined total of $4.5-million over, through the 3rd round of the Building Faster Fund, which helps municipalities that achieve at least 80% of their provincially designated housing targets.
The government says St. Catharines is receiving over $2.8-million, for reaching 97% of its target, with 1,064 new homes under construction last year.
Mayor Mat Siscoe says the city is proud to have qualified for the support for the 3rd consecutive year.
Welland takes almost $1.7-milllion, for exceeding its target by 23%, and building 528 new units.
Mayor Frank Campion says the money will help Welland expand and improve criticial infrastructure, without having local taxpayers take on the full burder of growth, and he says this is the 3rd year in a row it has received money.
