Niagara Falls City Council has approved a Capital Budget for 2020, and it works out to $83.9-million.
Director of Finance Tiffany Clark says it's a lot of money, but we also have two expensive projects on tap for next year.
"Some of the larger projects would be our Cultural Hub at $13.5-million and our Fire Station 7 (construction) is almost $7.5-million."
Clark says the City will use debentures to help pay for the Cultural Hub.
"Coming up with $10.5-million in two years is a lot of money to ask for. It makes sense to debenture buildings to spread the capital cost over the life of the building."
The remaining $3-million for that project will be coming from the federal government.
If you were to take the Cultural Hub and Fire Station 7 out of the budget, the total would be closer to $60-million. Clark says this would be more in line with past spending.
