Jim Diodati posting a parody video of the Billy Joel song "We Didn't Start the Fire" entitled "We Didn't Start the Virus" on YouTube.
Accompanying the video an explainer that reads "This is a Year-In-Review video showcasing the collective challenges, universal experiences and emotions of having navigated a global pandemic together."
The video opens with text that reads "This video is dedicated to all the people who have lost their lives directly or indirectly through this pandemic and all of the people on the front lines."
It then goes on to say "Just like the original song, this version addresses world issues, some catastrophic, all meaningful that resonate with all of us."
Some of the comments on his Facebook page include, "Completely tone deaf", "Catchy lol", "Awesome!!! Love it!!!" and "The line "we didn’t start the virus" is harmful to the Asian community who has been experiencing racism throughout the last year all over the globe."
