Betty's Restaurant says it cannot strong arm guests into following the rules.
The Niagara Falls restaurant hosted the large private gathering that Niagara West MPP Sam Oosterhoff attended over the weekend.
He posted photos of the event on social media afterwards which showed none of the approximately 40 guests wearing masks, including himself.
The photos were deleted shortly afterwards and Oosterhoff has issued an apology.
Betty's released a statement on Facebook yesterday saying the group gathered in their own private room with their own entrance and bathrooms.
It says the guests did not interact with others outside of the event and they were reminded several times that they had to wear their masks whenever they were not seated at their tables.
Betty's adds that the entire area has since been sanitized and disinfected.
