Platform created to provide before and after care to patients receiving certain surgeries
Niagara Health has added a digital platform for patients.
As part of the SeamlessMD program, patients getting hip, knee, shoulder, bowel and transurethral resection of the prostate surgeries will receive extra guidance before and after procedures.
Patients will be offered educational materials, reminders, progress tracking, symptom monitoring, and other services.
As well, patients can self-report data related to their procedure, including pain they're feeling, their range of motion and how easily they can move around.
They also have the ability to remotely send pictures of their wounds to their surgical care team.
The platform is available on smartphones, tablet and computers.
Niagara Health says the service was created to help improve recovery times and reduce trips to the hospital.
Since going live in March 2022, over 1,200 patients have enrolled.
