Niagara Health will soon have a new Chief of Medicine.
Dr. Lorraine Jensen will step into the position December 1st, taking over for Dr. Terry Chan.
Niagara Health considered applicants from across the country for the job, but Chief of Staff Dr. Johan Viljoen says they decided to fill the role in house.
"As St. Catharines Site Lead of General Internal Medicine, Dr. Jenson has led innovative changes in care, such as developing a new palliative care service and redesigning the General Internal Medicine Rapid Assessment Clinic, and is committed to continuous quality improvement in the department."
Dr. Jenson was first appointed to her current position back in 2017.
As Chief of Medicine, she's going to oversee several departments including Respirology, Cardiology and Critical Care.
She's also going to work very closely with the Heads of Service for each program.
