The contract is worth $3.6 billion.
Construction is expected to start this summer, and the hospital will take about five years to build.

"The new state-of-the-art hospital is going to transform healthcare for the Niagara region and will attract healthcare workers to the region. I look forward to watching it come to life over the next few years."

It will have 469 beds, and will offer services such as emergency, critical care, diagnostic, therapeutic and surgical services.
It will also have Centres of Excellence specializing in complex care, wellness in aging and stroke.
