Niagara Health has declared a COVID-19 outbreak on an inpatient unit at the St. Catharines hospital.
One of the healthcare workers has tested positive for the coronavirus.
Niagara Health has decided to temporarily close the unit to all admissions and transfers.
It's also following up with all patients, staff members and physicians the healthcare worker may have come into contact with.
Executive Vice President Derek McNally says the health, safety and wellbeing of everyone is their top priority.
"Our Infection Prevention and Control experts, working closely with Niagara Region Public Health and the NH Occupational Health and Safety team, will monitor the situation closely and adjust measures as needed to respond to this outbreak."
