Niagara Health asking residents to only visit emergency departments when serious medical attention is needed.
Niagara Health is reminding residents of their health care options for the August long weekend.
The organization says you should only visit emergency departments in situations where serious medical attention is needed.
For all other health issues this long weekend, you're asked to contact your primary care provider, depending on their hours.
You can also call Health Connect Ontario at 1-800-445-1822 to speak with a registered nurse.
Niagara Health says it continues to face a significant staffing strain, and it's looking at how to align their services to its available staff while prioritizing patient care.
Patients and families can expect longer wait times and service delays as Niagara Health continues to respond to pressures.
