Niagara Health says it'll never ask for SIN over the phone
A warning from Niagara Health about a phone scam in which criminals are trying to steal personal information.
Niagara Health says the caller claims to be a staff member, asking for the person who answers the phone for their name, social insurance number, date of birth and address.
Niagara Health stresses it does not call patients to confirm this information, and would never ask for a SIN over the phone. The only time that is asked for is in person, and during a WSIB case.
Furthermore, when Niagara Health calls, the name and number appears on call display.
Call police if you have received such calls.
