Flags flying at half mast throughout Niagara to honour workers killed or hurt at work
Today is National Day of Mourning, a day to recognize workers killed or injured on the job.
Flags across Niagara are at half mast, including flags at DSBN schools, the Town of Pelham municipal building, and town flags in Niagara-on-the-Lake.
According to the Association of Workers' Compensation Boards of Canada, about 1,100 Canadian workers died on the job in 2021.
