NRPS called 30 times to Sherkston Shores Community Over The Weekend
It was a very busy Canada Day weekend for Niagara Regional Police at one local beach resort.
The department says it had been called out to Sherkston Shores 30 times and had to deploy its public order unit after a crowd of nearly 30,000 people gathered. Reports of armed persons, fights, assaults, domestic violence, a sexual assault, and drug poisoning,
The sheer number of calls placed what police are calling a “heavy burden” on their officers assigned to the Port Colborne/Wainfleet detatchment, and by Monday the department pulled additional resources from its surrounding stations and deployed its public order unit to the area.
Police have not announced any charges as of yesterday but say there are multiple ongoing investigations.
