The 2021 operating budget will include a 1.8 percent increase in property taxes.
During the budget deliberations, the Region participated in a public engagement process to see what residents deemed as priority areas.
High lights of the budget include a $1.5 million contribution towards the expansion of health services in west Niagara, as well as $2 million for enhanced funding for critical infrastructure such as roads and bridges.
The budget estimates that COVID-19 costs for the region will be around $17.8 million, which will be fully funded with provincial funding such as the Safe Restart program.
