The province is adding 113 new correctional officers, as well as 22 probation and parole officers.
The correctional officer training program took place over the course of eight weeks, focusing on areas such as communication and de-escalation skills.
It also included Indigenous cultural training, a focus on anti-Black racism and inmate management techniques.
Twenty-nine of the new officers will support the central region, including the Niagara Detention Centre, Vanier Centre for Women, the Maplehurst Correctional Complex and the Hamilton-Wentworth Detention Centre.
The recent graduates received compensation from the province for their training, which is part of the provincial government's $500 million plan to transform correctional services in Ontario.
