The Special Investigations Unit won't lay charges in the death of a Fort Erie man.
On January 13th, paramedics were called to a Fort Erie residence, where a 61 year old male resident had reportedly experienced pain and lightheadedness.
He was put in the ambulance, but the ambulance pulled over to request the assistance of police due to the man's agitation.
Upon arrival, the man was apprehended by an NRP officer under the Mental Health Act.
Officers handcuffed the man to the stretcher.
On the way to the hospital, he condition deteriorated, and he was placed in the care of the emergency department once they reached the hospital.
He died in hospital later that day.
The SIU has ruled that no officers committed a criminal offence.
