Premier proposing charging those who refuse to get vaccinated against COVID-19
Adult Quebecers who say ``No'' to a COVID-19 vaccine jab could soon be saying ouch to a "significant'' financial penalty.
Premier Francois Legault announced yesterday he intends to tax people who decide to skip the vaccine without a medical exemption.
The move would be the first of its kind in Canada.
Legault described the penalty as a ``health contribution,'' noting approximately 10 per cent of the adult population in his province is not vaccinated, but represent about half of all patients in the ICU.
The Premier hinting the "contribution" would be added to residents yearly provincial tax bill.
