The OPP will be taking over the police investigation, into the hiring of a former Niagara Region CAO.
A report by Ontario's Ombudsman titled Inside Job, suggests that hiring process was tainted when Carmen D'Angelo signed on a CAO back in 2016.
According to the St. Catharines Standard, the Region originally asked the NRP to conduct the investigation, but Chief Bryan MacCulloch decided to forward it on to the OPP.
It says MacCulloch wanted to avoid conflict of interest concerns because the NRP is primarily funded by the municipality.
