Police say this can happen to anyone
Due to an alarming rise in fraud scams, the NRP is urging everyone to keep in mind this can happen to anyone, at anytime, and safeguard your personal information.
Police say these criminals are increasingly using sophisticated techiques, that include Canada Revenue Agency scams, claiming taxpayers owe money and to pay up now.
There's also the grandparent scam, and bank investigator scam.
Police add legitimate bank or government employees will never ask you to withdraw large sums from your bank, ask you to lie to a bank, or request the purchase of gift cards.
Remember, if it seems suspicious, trust your instinct and call police.
