Hockey, basketball among the high school championships impacted
Students expressing disappointment after learning the OFSAA Executive Council has decided to cancel the 2022 winter championships scheduled for February and March.
The council cites the late restart to the term and the uncertainty when sports can resume at schools.
OFSAA says the cancellation will impact hockey, basketball, volleyball and curling championships or festivals.
Also cancelled championships or festivals for alpine and Nordic skiing along with snowboarding.
Swimming and wrestling were cancelled earlier.
Officials say they remain optimistic OFSAA spring championships will move forward beginning with badminton this May.
