Vulnerable populations can get Omicron-targeting COVID-19 booster shot starting today.
Ontarians aged 18 and older will soon be able to get the bivalent COVID-19 booster dose.
The vaccine targets both the original strain and Omicron variant.
Starting today, vulnerable populations can book the bivalent booster, including the following groups:
- Individuals aged 70 and over;
- Residents of long-term care homes, retirement homes, Elder Care Lodges and individuals living in other congregate settings that provide assisted-living and health services;
- First Nation, Inuit and Métis individuals and their non-Indigenous household members aged 18 and over;
- Moderately to severely immunocompromised individuals aged 12 and over;
- Pregnant individuals aged 18 and over; and
- Health care workers aged 18 and over.
Meanwhile, all Ontarians aged 18 and older will be able to get a shot starting September 26th.
However, all previously booked booster appointments for today until the 25th will be honoured, and the bivalent vaccine will be offered, depending on availability.
Appointments can be made on the province's booking portal.
