Woman in critical condition after fire at St. Catharines apartment building.
A structure fire in St. Catharines last night has sent one person to hospital in critical condition.
Around 6:15, emergency crews were called to a blaze at an apartment building near Ontario Street and Trafalgar Street.
Officials say a stream of black smoke could be seen from a third story window.
An unconscious 61 year old woman was found inside the apartment and was flown to an out-of-town trauma centre, where she is currently in critical condition.
The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
