Three OPP officers were shot in the village of Bourget early this morning. One of them died in hospital.
BOURGET - One officer is dead and two others have been injured after shots were fired in a village east of Ottawa.
The OPP responded to a report of someone hearing gunshots at a home in Bourget shortly after 2:00 a.m. this morning.
Police say the three officers were shot by someone in the home. They were all taken to hospital and one of them died of their injuries afterward. The slain officer has since been identified as Sergeant Eric Mueller.
OPP Commissioner Thomas Carrique says one of the other officers remains in hospital, while the third has been released.
The suspect has been identified as 39 year old Alain Bellefeuille.
He has been charged with one count of first degree murder, and two counts of attempted murder.
