Ontario Premier Doug Ford says the Province is dealing with what he calls a little spike of COVID-19 right now, but that it is manageable.
Hospitalizations are up in Ontario, with 867 people in the hospital with COVID-19, including 168 in the ICU. Last week at this time, the Province had 655 people in the hospital and 158 in the ICU.
Ford says this little spike was expected and he will continue to follow the advice of the chief medical officer.
Ford notes our hospitals are more prepared for COVID-19 with more acute care beds and the antiviral treatment pills from Pfizer are helping as well.
The Province now has over 100,000 prescriptions available for the Pfizer antiviral pills, which are given to those most susceptible to becoming seriously ill from COVID, after they test positive.
