
Update: Police were at hotel to arrest man in relation to parole violations
Update: July 31st
Police say a 40-year old man is dead after he was shot by police in a Ramada Hotel parking lot.
Ontario's Special Investigations unit says provincial police, along with other forces, were there to arrest the man on parole violations, when there was an interaction.
An OPP officer shot the man, who died later at hospital.
Another officer was shot, but he is recovering.

We have confirmation from the NRP that provincial police were involved in a shooting late this morning in Niagara Falls.
They say it happened in the Stanley Avenue and Peer Street area, which involved the Repeat Offender Parole Enforcement unit.
Niagara police say given the multiple police agencies involved, including Ontario's Special Investigation's unit, that is all we're being told so far.
They can say no NRP officer was involved directly, however they did assist.
They add there is no on-going concerns for public safety.
