City hopes to force end to protest

Ottawa Mayor Jim Watson has declared a state of emergency in response to ongoing protests that have overwhelmed local resources.

Residents have been pleading for an end to the nine days of constant truck horns blaring.

Watson says the decision reflects what he calls the ''serious danger and threat to the safety and security of residents.''

Protesters have been encamped through much of the downtown core.

Ottawa police say they've issued more than 450 tickets since Saturday morning.

Closer to home, a convoy rolled through Niagara over the weekend in support of the Ottawa protestors

A 31 year old St. Catharines man was charged with assault after allegedly throwing a snowball through the open window of a car injuring a woman.

Eggs were also thrown at participants in the convoy.
